After robust validation of the Relativity Server 2022 release, Consilio has begun integrating and deploying this release for our customers on our Fall release cycle.  As important technology component of the Complete suite of solutions,  Relativity Server 2022 incorporates several notable enhancements to know about.  Depending on your specific environment and permissions, some features highlighted here may not be available to you.  Other enhancements in Relativity Server 2022 are already supported by Consilio Complete.  For more information, get in touch with your client representative.

For additional capabilities, like AI-assisted investigatory workflows or data connector options, like M365, we invite you to explore Sightline, our proprietary end-to-end solution offering a award-winning eDiscovery platform paired with our world-class client experience.

Let’s review the highlights for the Relativity Server 2022 release:

Enhanced Aero User Interface

Relativity has rebuilt the user interface from the ground-up to provide users with a faster, more intuitive user experience while maintaining all the power you need to conduct e-discovery. The four pillars below encapsulate the main changes you’ll see:

New Document Viewer: The new Relativity document viewer includes a modernized experience that offers faster doc-to-doc performance, clean icons, and navigation through your review similar to our Sightline document viewing experience.

Modern Look & Feel: You’ll notice changes to Relativity’s colors, iconography, page components, and more, but this is more than just a coat of paint. Relativity has restyled the application to feel more contemporary, including focusing on usability improvements.

Tabbed Navigation: In Aero UI, administrators can now configure bucket tabs into categories so that users can easily access the tabs they need for a given workflow while leaving other tabs visible only in a new All Tabs menu.

Enhanced Searching

Relativity Server 2022 includes two notable enhancements to its search experience:

Contextual Search Thumbnails: Contextual Search Thumbnails provide the surrounding 100 characters before and after search hits from the in-Viewer search box. This provides you with even more context in your searches and makes it easier to navigate to the most relevant search.

You can now modify STR terms directly on the terms list page, eliminating the need to launch a new modal window for editing terms.

Inline Editing for STR Term Modifications: You can now modify STR terms directly on the terms list page, eliminating the need to launch a new modal window for editing terms.

Browser Compatibility

Relativity Server 2022 officially supports Microsoft Edge and no longer supports Internet Explorer. For more information on End user browser and operating system requirements, see Relativity’s website here.

Limitations in Relativity Server 2022

According to Relativity, there are some notable limitations with the Relativity Server 2022 release we are advising clients to keep in mind:

  • Once the upgrade is complete, there is no option to switch back to the old UI.
  • There is a new document viewer. The “Relativity Review” document viewer is fast and easy to use, but individual users may be switched back to the “HTML” viewer.
  • ActiveX Viewer, Bandwidth Tester, and Document Skip features are depreciated and no longer available.

The following are limitations between the Classic (HTML) Viewer and new Review Interface. These items are not available unless a user toggles back to the Classic Viewer:

  • Viewing Document History in the results pane in cases without Audit installed
  • Filtering within the Analytics results pane
  • Export within the Analytics results pane
  • Mass edit functionality within Analytics results pane (i.e. unable to select individual results)

The following will not be available immediately upon upgrade to Aero UI but will be added in a subsequent release:

  • Standalone Viewer (from list pages)

Additional options, such as our Sightline eDiscovery platform, are available to assist clients further if these limitations become burdensome.  Please contact your client representative for assistance.
